What happens to your resume
myAECjob reads your resume or portfolio so it can compare your background with open jobs. This page says what happens to that information.
Files are read in your browser
PDF, Word and text files are opened and read on your device. Only the extracted text is sent to our server, to work out your matches. The file itself never leaves your browser.
What happens to the text
Our server picks out your roles, dates, sectors, licenses and software with fixed rules, works out your years, and ranks the jobs. No outside service sees the text.
We do not keep your text or your results once they are sent back to your browser. There are no accounts and no search history on our side.
Portfolio links
If you add a portfolio link, our server fetches a few of its pages once so their text can be read. Private and local network addresses are blocked.
We never visit linkedin.com or any other profile site.
Resume and portfolio review
The review also opens your files in your browser. It sends our server the extracted text and a few layout facts: the file's name, type and size, the number of pages and their sizes, how many characters, images and drawn shapes are on each page, the font sizes, the domains your links point to, and the PDF's title. A portfolio link or the job you are applying for is sent too if you add one. The link is checked for where it is hosted, but never opened.
Our server runs every check with fixed rules. No outside service sees the text.
Nothing from a review is stored or logged, except an error message if part of the review fails. Reviews are limited per IP address, counted in our server's memory the same way as for the matcher.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get used. It sets cookies in your browser and tells Google which pages you open, your browser and device, and your rough location. It never sees your resume, its text or your matches. Ad features are turned off, and the site runs no ads.
To opt out, block trackers in your browser or install Google's opt-out add-on. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs so the site can run.
Where the jobs come from
Postings come from the public career pages of US architecture, engineering, interiors, landscape and construction firms. Each job links to the employer's own posting. We do not apply for you or pass your details to employers.
